Miller Creek Soccer League
2021 Guidance for Illness During the COVID 19 Pandemic
In light of the COVID 19 global pandemic, Miller Creek Soccer League (“MCSL”) will enforce guidelines surrounding attendance at practice and games. These rules apply to all members of the MCSL community including players, coaches, referees, and administrators. Our goal is to maintain the health of our community. Furthermore, the MCSL Board prioritizes making sure that schools are able to stay open in these difficult times.
MCSL relies on parents/guardians to be the first line of defense. If you have any question as to whether or not your child should stay home, please err on the side of keeping them at home and consult with your health care professional.
PLEASE READ THESE GUIDELINES THOROUGHLY
1. COVID 19 may present in many ways. If a coach or child or household contact of the participant has a fever over 100.4F, chills, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing/ shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, or diarrhea, the coach or player must stay home.
2. If a player/ coach stays home in the above mentioned scenario, that person may not return to practice until symptoms have improved, the fever is gone for more than 24 hours without fever reducing medications, AND results of a negative PCR COVID19 test is provided to your coach. Coaches should provide proper documentation to the GLM for their age group. Rapid tests will not be accepted.
3. If a symptomatic participant chooses not to test, that person may not return to practice or games for 10 days.
4. If a household contact is symptomatic but tests negative (PCR COVID test) for COVID19 AND the participant remains asymptomatic, the participant may return to practice/games.
5. If a household or close contact of a participant tests positive for COVID 19, the participant may not return to practice for 10 days from last contact with the infected individual. If the participant is fully vaccinated, they may return to practice as early as 5 days after the last exposure if they present a negative PCR COVID19 test to their coach or GLM.
6. If a player tests positive for COVID 19, the parent/guardian shall immediately notify their coach and the GLM. The entire team will be informed by email and telephone by the coach, GLM, or VP of MCSL. MCSL will make every effort to keep all health information provided confidential. We request that all members test 5 days from the last point of contact. Regardless, the team will suspend activity for a full 10 days.
MCSL 2021 Masking Policy
MCSL is committed to supporting our local schools as they seek to maintain a healthy learning environment for all of our children. MCSL has considered guidelines from the Marin County Office of Education. As such, MCSL will be instituting the following masking policy:
1. All indoor activities require all participants to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status.
2. While walking to and from the field, masking of all players and spectators is required, regardless of vaccination status.
3. While actively engaged in game play, masking of players is not required but strongly recommended, regardless of vaccination status.
4. Players on the bench at a game shall be required to mask at all times, regardless of vaccination status. Coaches are advised if social distance is not feasible to wear a mask.
5. Masking for Spectators while watching a game is not required, but strongly recommended, especially where social distancing cannot be maintained.
